Chasing Dreams

Despite being a couple decades late to the blogging platform, I still feel like it’s a great time to start journaling our dreams and the adventure of chasing them. Anything we can do to reinforce a bright future has got to be a good thing, right?

I often hear people say that when your life is coming to pass you will most regret the things you did not do but I don’t often see people doing much more than seeking comfort. I love being comfortable. As a matter of fact, my hair is still damp from rinsing off after a swim in our pool a moment ago and I am typing this half sunk in to our Lovesac couch in a perfectly climate controlled living room staring through a huge window at a full bloom of beautiful oleanders. It doesn’t get much more comfortable than this. However, this level of comfort brings a complacency that I feel like we are always trying to find but not settle in to. We want to capture it but not keep it because keeping it seems like a waste of potential and as they say, you most regret the things you don’t do. So here we are, doing…

Even when the adventure of chasing a dream turns into a miserable reality, after we’ve recovered from the damage, it ends up being a positive image in our rear view. We learned the hard way that you don’t just move somewhere because your week long vacation there was awesome. The silver lining to that story was that we ended up connecting and living with awesome family and friends while we recovered from the expense of that silly mistake. As long as we are willing to work hard to recover from pitfalls, everything seems to work out for the best. So rather than focusing on building a huge foundation of safety and comfort or grinding so hard now that we can casually float on a cloud during retirement, we are actively chasing our dreams through this short life we have.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines! Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover!
